OPEN POSITIONS
INTERN POSITION
Position Description:
Interns are responsible for the promotion and supervision of an educational and fun camp environment during non-curriculum time at GMU. During the day, interns are responsible for assisting the camp director in any needed capacity. During the night block, interns work directly with campers to help improve events. Interns report directly to the camp directors and work closely with GMU residential life to ensure a safe and fun camp experience for everyone. Staying on campus in the dorms is required. Minimum Requirements: - Graduation from high school prior to the beginning of GMIF 2019 - Participation in high school forensics - At least one year of experience attending GMIF or other large forensics institutes as a camper OR - Acceptance onto a collegiate forensics team Preferred Qualifications: - Previous leadership roles in a forensics setting - Previous experience with teaching in some capacity |
LAB ASSISTANT POSITION
Position Description:
Lab assistants work in a "lab" (a group of six to eight campers) and have the primary responsibility of helping the students in that lab conceptualize, develop, and perfect a competition-ready speech by the end of camp. Other responsibilities include participation in performance hour, attending curriculum lectures, and ensuring the well-being of all campers. Lab assistants report directly to the assigned Lab Leader but are also supervised by the curriculum director. Minimum Requirements: - Must have completed 1 year of school at a college or university - Must compete in college forensics OR - Must have at least one year of experience as a GMIF staff member Preferred Qualifications: - Previous experience as a staff member at GMIF or another large forensics institute - Previous experience in a teaching or mentorship role - Demonstration of forensics experience in your preferred curricular area |
LAB LEADER POSITION
Position Description:
Lab leaders are responsible for the daily implementation of the curriculum designed for that particular genre. They supervise one lab assistant and facilitate the development of events for the students in their lab. Other responsibilities include occasional lecture development, communication with the curriculum directors, and field trip attendance. Minimum Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree OR - 2+ years experience as a GMIF staff member Preferred Qualifications: - Previous employment experience as a forensics coach on the high school or collegiate level - Multiple experiences in a teaching or leadership role - Demonstrated ability to facilitate a safe and inclusive environment for high school students - Demonstration of forensics expertise in your preferred curricular area |
