WHAT WE DO
Students have the opportunity to prepare not one, but TWO events while at the GMIF. A student's Major event is their primary focus and the expectation is they will leave the Institute with that event "tournament ready." Major events should be the foremost concern of the student, meaning that the time to work on Major events should not be used to work on Minor events (and vice versa).
Minor events are designed to get the ball rolling but not necessarily in motion. Students should expect to leave the Institute with that event mostly ready (e.g. the Interp may be cut and blocked but not yet memorized).
Major/minor options are only allowed within lab areas. For example, within Interp, students can easily major in Dramatic Interpretation and minor in Humorous Interpretation; Oratory students can minor in Declamation or Informative, Extemp students can minor in Impromptu. More options are listed below. If you have any questions just call or e-mail the GMIF office.
